    国連食糧農業機関(FAO)
    FAOは、山岳相互エージェンシーグループの支援およびガイダンスを得て、IYMプロセスの全面的な調整を行っています。FAOは,森林部門における持続可能な山岳開発およびWatershed Managementに関するプログラムを通してIYMに注目しています(それはさらに国連のタスクマネージャーアジェンダ21 でもある)。

    North American node
    Now under development. Several bodies - including the Mexican Indigenous Association for Sustainable Development, the Banff Centre for Mountain Culture and The Mountain Institute are cooperating in projects leading up to IYM 2002.

    African node
    Launched in August 1999, the node in currently recruiting members from various mountain regions of Africa and gathering information on projects, sacred mountains, development challenges and successful interventions, available literature, on-going research and policy and legal frameworks. It is also developing mechanisms to promote information exchange and collaborative links between the various mountain regions and communities in Africa.

    Asia and Pacific node
    The Pacific Mountain Network (APMN), created in 1995, serves as the regional node for the global Mountain Forum. APMN promotes the "mountain agenda" on issues such as poverty alleviation in mountains, environmental management, and advocacy of Agenda 21's Chapter 13.

    European node
    The European Mountain Forum provides details for joining the network, a newsletter, access to electronic discussion groups and a list of local nodes in the network. French and English.

    Latin American node
    InfoAndina is the information system for the Consortium for Sustainable Development of the Andean Ecorregion (CONDESAN).

    Andean Mountains Association (AMA)
    The AMA is a scholarly organization that includes faculty and researchers from several universities in Andean countries, both public and private research centres and individual practitioners of sustainable mountain development and conservation of biocultural resources.

    Association des Montagnes et des Hautes Terres Malagasy (AMMA)
    The AMMA, created in January 2000 is a non-profit organisation focussing on the mountains and highlands of Madagascar. It is a member of the African Mountain Association.

    European Observatory of Mountain Forests (EOMF)
    The EOMF was established in 1996 on the request of the European Federation of Local Forest Communities (FECOF) as a permanent independent forum for the development, monitoring and evaluation of the sustainable management of mountain forests.

    Global Environment Facility (GEF)
    The GEF is a multilateral mechanism that assists developing countries and countries with economies in transition to protect the global environment. As part of its mandate, the Facility supports projects that help protect biodiversity in mountain ecosystems in East Africa, Central Asia, Bhutan, Colombia, Lebanon, Lesotho and Malawi.

    Global Mountain Biodivesity Assessment (GMBA)
    GMBA is a global DIVERSITAS network on mountain biodiversity research and aims to document the great biological richness of the mountains of the world. It also monitors changes in mountain biodiversity caused by direct or indirect human influences in order to gain knowledge on the preservation of mountain diversity and the sustainable development of rural mountain areas.
    International Biodiversity Observation Year 2001-2002

    International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)
    ICIMOD promotes integrated mountain development and seeks to improve the living standards of mountain populations of the Hindu Kush-Himalayas (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan). It is a multidisciplinary focal point for documentation, information, research and training, and provides expert services for the Hindu Kush-Himalayan countries.

    Italian IYM National Committee
    The Italian IYM Committee was founded by a select group of important authorities from both the public and private sector who deal regularly with mountain issues in Italy and abroad. The mission of the Italian IYM Committee is to address those themes that aid in reaching the general objects set for the IYM by the United Nations.

    The Mountain Institute
    The Mountain Institute's mission is to advance mountain cultures and preserve mountain environments. Its programmes are designed to conserve mountain eco-systems, increase sustainable livelihoods for mountain communities, and promote the Mountain Agenda through advocacy, education and outreach for mountain communities. Current work centres on the Andes, Appalachian and Himalayan ranges and global networking through the Mountain Forum.

    Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)

    Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF)
    The SLF conducts research on snow cover, snow ecology, avalanches and risk assessment. Research and services are directed to protection and prevention against natural hazards. The SLF also hosts the National Competence Centre for Natural Hazards, coordinates the IUFRO Task Force on Mountain Forests and has a new research section 'Zufunft Alpenraum' for research on integrated mountain development.

    World Conservation Union (IUCN)
    IUCN promotes sustainable mountain development through activities such as the Mountain Theme of its World Commission on Protected Areas, with its network and newsletter for protected area managers and scientists, and the IUCN Forests and Protected Areas Programmes, which deal with mountain forest sustainability, and many projects in its various regional and country offices.

    ICALPE is an international, non-governmental, scientific organization that promotes integration of conservation and development in Europe's mountains through coordinated research projects and advice to policymakers. It helped organize the European Intergovernmental Consultation on Sustainable Mountain Development, (1996) and produced in 1998 a report for the European Parliament on a policy for mountain regions.
